Ferdinand Beauperthuy, son of Capt. Ruben Beauperthuy, the owner of Boo-Boo-Jam said:

"It was well known that my father could never remember names. He would just greet people by saying, 'Hey Boo, what's up?' So, the name started out as Boo, but we felt it needed to be a little longer. So we added another Boo and Jam comes from the partying and entertainment that goes on here. Often times we get people that come in here simply because their cat is named Booboo, or they call someone Boo. It's great!"

Boo-Boo-Jam is a rare place that can attribute it's success to hurricane Luis.

"After Luis, we were the only place that could get our generator working," Ferdinand explains. "So, what we basically decided to do one night was to cook everything we had before it spoiled. Hamburgers, steaks, the whole bit, and sell it all at a very low price for a steak and we also invite D.J. Ruby to play some music as well. The turnout was crazy cool. People were suggesting to us, 'Why don't you do this again next week?' And that's how we got started."
