Hip, hip, hurray! Say it out loud fifteen times for one of St. Maarten’s favorite hot spot this weekend: Boo Boo Jam. It was their 10th anniversary and they treated their customers to a fun-filled weekend packing out with great music, prizes, beach activities and much more.
Although Boo Boo Jam exists for 15 years, owner Ruben Beauperthuy brought it alive after Luis and put the emphasis on the JAM with DJ Ruby. “ In the last fifteen years our quality continues to get better and better. Music wise, we’re still the same, but the volume of crowd has definitely increased over the last years. Today we are one of the hottest Caribbean hot spots. The people, the staff, the ambiance, it’s all open,” said Ferdinard Beauperthuy, the owner’s son and part-manager.
The celebrations kicked off Friday night with dance competitions, all through out the evening Zouk, Bachatta, Soca, Salsa, Reggae and Merengue was judged. “Every half hour we featured a different dance and from each group two winners were selected to receive great prizes,” Ferdinard explained. The Best Dressed Couple and Boo Boo Jam’s loyal customers was also given gifts.
The B-day bash moved on to the beach on Sunday with a triangular boat race. “Traditional sailing boats raced against each other in front of the beach in order for the audience to watch from shore,” Ferdinard said. And while the boatmen hoist their sails, the landlubbers could shake it up to the music of Control Band, that were set on a stage on the beach.
Sun worshippers were able to throw a hand at volleyball or get a deal on water sports activities like the banana boat and kids could get bouncy in the inflatable castle. After sunset, the party moved back inside Boo Boo Jam with DJ Ruby playing the greatest jams, like he always does.
Congratulations Boo Boo Jam! Here’s to another decade of Cheers!
